At Wine Watch we think that the Magnum is the perfect size bottle and when it comes to wine, more is always better.  You really start to notice the difference that size makes when a wine reaches 10 years old or more.  Wines bottled in Magnum format are always fresher, have more fruit and they have the ability to last sometimes twice as long as their 750ml equivalents. 

Join us as we experience some GREAT wines out of Magnum format and help us celebrate the opening of the new Wine Watch Wine Bar.  We are opening over a dozen magnums from our collection and your admission to this tasting is one Magnum of wine per couple along with a $55 admission fee per person + tax.  We are only taking 45 reservations for this event, don’t miss out on the first big party at our new facility call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

2005 Jimmy Cabernet Sauvignon Red Meritage Napa Magnum

Our good friend Jimmy has been gone since 2006 but we have a few magnums of this wine that was made in his honor in the cellar to celebrate occasions like this.
Lots of black currant and black plum like fruit on the nose with fresh plowed black earth espresso, toasty oak spice and dark chocolate aromas. Smooth and velvety on the palate with an abundance of ripe round tannins, lots of black currant and cassis berry fruit with lead pencil, chocolate and mineral notes through the finish. I have tasted this wine twice over the last few weeks and it tastes even better on the 2nd and 3rd day it is open! Finish 45+ MOST EXCELLENT

2014 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Magnum

The best qualities from our past two vintages come together like yin and yang in our singular 2014 Reserve Cabernet. Radiant color and soaring aromas of ripe blackberry, toasty oak spices, black truffle and cappuccino make an impressive entrée. Fleshy and supple at first, the wine expands into deeper, more concentrated fruit layers with chocolaty, fine-grained tannins. 1,400 cases produced.

2004 Fontodi Chianti Riserva Vigne de Sorbo MAGNUM

(96 Points) Medium to deep garnet colour. Pretty, fresh blackberry and warm cherry aromas on the nose with fragrant nuances of rose petals and Chinese five spice. The tannins are firm yet finely grained and accessible. A crisp backbone of acidity provides freshness and perfect balance to the rich, ripe fruit flavours. The style straddles that wonderfully fine line between elegance and decadence. Very long finish with lingering notes of black truffles. 2013 Archimage (May 2016 release) 91-93 points (barrel sample) - Jeb Dunnuck of the Wine Advocate The Cabernet Franc dominated 2013 The Archimage will certainly be an outstanding wine. It has classic black and blue fruits, flowers and dried-herb characteristics, medium to full-bodied richness and nicely integrated acidity. Fresh, lively and balanced, it's a beautiful barrel sample that will have a decade of prime drinking.

1999 Moschioni Rosso Friuli MAGNUM

(94 points) A prodigious offering is the 1999 Celtico Rosso (a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot) and the 1999 Pignolo (100% Pignolo). It may be expensive, but it is a blockbuster effort of extraordinary richness and intensity. The 1999 Celtico Rosso, which spent 15 months in French oak before being bottled unfiltered, came in at an amazing 15% alcohol, all of which is hidden by layers of concentrated blackberry and creme de cassis fruit. Smoky graphite, floral, and pain grille notes emerge from the bouquet. The wine possesses a terrific entry, a multi-dimensional mid-palate, and a finish that lasts for nearly 40 seconds. This corpulent, concentrated yet incredibly well-balanced heavyweight should drink well for 15 years. It is a tour de force. Wine Advocate #137 Oct 2001

2010 Château Boston Margaux Magnum

The estate was planted by Major General Palmer in 1822. In 2003 Château Boston was bought by Vincent and Natacha Ginestet who restored the entire estate. Conscious of this unique and valuable terroir they restructured the vineyard and rebuilt the cellars.  The soil has an excellent permeability with over 70% of gravel  which is eight meters deep, ideal conditions for the vine roots to grow perfectly. The terroir is so qualitative that 3rd Cru Classé Rauzan-Ségla acquired three hectares of it in 2010 to improve its top wine!

Château Boston wines are composed of Cabernet-Sauvignon (70%) and Merlot (30%) and cultivated using biodynamic techniques. They demonstrate all the refinment and character of great Margaux: with their aromas of very ripe fruit and discrete toasted notes, a good attack on the palate which then evolves towards spicy and oaky notes on the finish.

2014 Domaine Des Valanges Saint Veran MAGNUM

This cuvée is a blend of wine made from thirty years old vines on various slopes in the commune of Davaye in the following climats (vineyards sites): Les Valanges, Les Carettes, Les Terres-Noires and Les Creches. The Vineyards plots face south by south-east and north-east. The terroir is clay limestone with a high percentage of fairly lean limestone soil. The vines grow on the middle of the Solutre and Vergisson Slopes.

Just around the hill from corton big flat rocks shaped like dog teeth. Fresh tree fruit apple white peaches lemon cites and a touch of flinty mineral notes.  Round rich fruit on the tongue creamy texture with a nice freshness and good minerality.  Finish 40+. Excellent
