"Even though a number of people have tried, no one has yet found a way to drink for a living."--

Jean Kerr

I beg to differ with that opinion as I do drink for a living and have a show called "What I Drank Yesterday" now on the Instagram TV platform every day following our tastings at 3:30pm you can watch live to see how the wines showed and what the crowd picked as wine of the night!

Speaking of our good friends in Napa Valley, we have one of the most entertaining men in the wine business cohosting our virtual tasting for a second time as we bring back Jean Charles Boisset for a repeat performance on Wednesday, July 1st to showcase Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Jean Charles Boisset is one of the most interesting winery personalities that you will meet and I remember riding with Jean Charles doing sales calls back when I worked with Republic National Distributing over 25 years ago and he has the same energy and passion today that he had back then.  We put together several wine dinners in the past and were out on more than one occasion after dinner to check out the afterhours festivities of the South Florida nightlife, we share a common vintage we are both 1969 babies.

The Boisset family is one of the largest landholders in Burgundy and Jean Charles married Gina Gallo, making this rather important wine family of France now joined by marrage to the largest family owned winery in the world.

Jean Charles is now based out of Napa Valley and this tasting will showcase several of the Cabernet Sauvignon based wines from the wineries that the Boisset family owns in Napa Valley.  You can purchase the complete set of 4 wines that we will be showing this evening or any individual bottle to taste along with us on Wednesday July 1st.  If you miss the event live you can taste along with us at your convenience any time after that by watching our Instagram TV channel as the video will be up shortly after the live performance.

While Agoston Haraszthy was most recognized as being the Father of California viticulture, he was also the father of six illustrious children. His third son, Arpad, spent over two years studying in Champagne, France learning the craft of sparkling wine and later became the first to introduce Méthode Traditionelle sparkling wine into California winemaking. Arpad’s sparkling wine, Eclipse, was one of the most celebrated in the nineteenth century; we pay tribute to his legacy.

In partnership with the largest family-owned proprietors   of vineyards in Champagne, Buena Vista is proud to present our La Victoire Brut Champagne. This classic Champagne is made in the traditional style and is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Elegantly crafted, it offers the heritage of an incomparable style created to delight and make all great occasions special.

Made up of 70% Pinot Noir, from Premier Cru vineyards from the Montagne de Reims, and 30% Chardonnay, mostly from Grand Cru Mesnil sur Oger and Chouilly, the wine received a dosage of 8.7 g/L. By law in Champagne, aging is 15 months minimum for non-vintage wines. Our La Victoire was aged more than 3 years.

This champagne opens with elegant and complex aromas of grapefruit followed by rich honey and brioche notes. A crisp and intense palate offers flavors of white stone fruits, peaches and pears. The wine’s impressive mouthfeel is full and rich but well balanced, leaving delightful freshness on the palate.

JCB #1 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa

Price: $237.50    Sale $209

This lavish Napa Valley Cabernet showcases a deep plum color that will instantly captivate your senses. With soft, yet vibrant notes of cassis, plum, blueberry and touches of white pepper, intermingled with a bit of floral on the nose. The palate opens up to a very elegant, supple and balanced mouthfeel that is both juicy and rich. This harmonious wine is voluptuous without being overwhelming and leave you wanting more. It complements perfectly with just the right amount of structure and complexity leading to a long, satisfying finish.

No. 1 signifies Jean-Charles' concept of the penultimate wine that embraces the power of the Napa Valley combined with the elegance associated with Jean-Charles' native Burgundy. It is the first time, as he hails from Pinot Noir country, that he has delved into a Cabernet Sauvignon that bears his signature style. There can only ever be one No.1.

For Jean-Charles Boisset, the No. 1 Cabernet Sauvignon must not only age well into the future, it must be VOLUPTUOUS in the present. It must have a commanding structure, yet have flavors that are OPULENT. But above all, No. 1 must always have a dramatic personality. It is never tamed and predictable. No. 1 is INCORRIGIBLE.

JCB No 10 Cabernet Sauvignon

JCB#10 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa

The complexity of this voluptuous wine presents ripe tannins and a long, lingering finish.

The number 10 throughout history has always represented the concept of wholeness, soundness and being complete. I designed this unique wine to represent all that Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is renowned for.. structure, balance and power. It is a perfect 10!

2014 Surrealist (Green Giant) | Boisset Collection

JCB Surrealist Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2014

Price: $387.00    Sale $340.56

2014 Vintage. Dark purple color in the glass, The Surrealist by JCB, a Petit Verdot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend, is a rich and opulent wine. Opening with notes of dark fruit, black and blue berries, anise and a hint of white pepper, this wine will leave you wanting for more. The velvety, plush, sumptuous mouthfeel coats your palate; the tannins rich and dense make this wine elegant and cellar-worthy.

We wanted to create a wine that is surrealistic. As wine is art, so too is the bottle. The bottle - clear, so it never obscures your vision - is meant to be kept forever, to be used again and again as a decanter so that you can remember forever the taste, the moment and the emotion of the first time you discovered the elixir inside. It can preserve and present any elixir you should choose to fill it with time and again. The bottle becomes art, to enlighten your table with Surrealistic revelations to inspire conversation and conviviality!

And so, we present it to you: a wine, a decanter, a piece of art!

We called it the Surrealist as the world of surrealism has possessed me & myself forever as portraying the experience of contrasting worlds: celebrating tradition & modernity, the real & the imagined, the past & the future, the consciousness of the self & the other, the inner & the outer worlds. Surrealism is the passage from one state to another, while also representing, for wine, the two facets of wines, the two colors of wine, the personalities of all our senses, the evocation of transformation, and the notion that time & space is limitless thanks to the elixir of freedom! It is the ultimate plane where dreams, exploration and passion create an "esprit nouveau" !

And at the epicenter of our senses & emotions, the Surrealist is the perfect clarity of vision to hold multiple worlds within: You & Yourself, Me & Myself, well, our own vision of the world!

The Surrealist as a wine represents the freedom of our own interpretation of flavors, smells, texture & senses where each can further interpret independently their own geography of pleasure. May it inspire you to put theory into practice, actuality into fantasy, where the discovery of our creation will spark a surreal event & catalyze an epiphany within you and yourself.
