“He who knows how to taste does not drink wine but savors secrets.”

  • Salvador Dali

We have some great tastings coming up to finish up the month of July with more Happy Hour events on Thursday night, Laurent Perrier Champagne on Friday night and were drinking Dr. Robert Maliner’s old Napa Cabernet on Saturday night!  Most of the events coming up over the next few weeks are already almost SOLD OUT check the calendar of events to see what is coming up at Wine Events - Wine Watch to reserve your seats to experience some of the world’s greatest wines.
It’s great to have talented and passionate people working with you and to me you are foolish if you do not let them use their talent and passion to help improve your business.  Our resident Spanish wine expert Tomas is now taking over the organization of the Spanish wine tasting events as well as the purchasing for the Spanish wine department here at the store.  So, I’m sure you will see some incredible new additions to this section of the wines store in the coming months.  Here is an essay by our “ese” Tomas to introduce our upcoming vintage Spanish wine tasting.
When I first stepped foot in Spain, I could tell this was the place I wanted to retire towards the end of my drinking days. There was no way in hell I was going to savor the secret of the greatness Spain has to offer. Everything about this country astounded me. The culture of the Spanish people is so diverse throughout the land, from the language to the gastronomy. It is home to many Michelin Star restaurants and many world class wineries. My family and I have made an initiative to travel throughout the Iberian Peninsula, whether together or separate, to see its many wonders. There are few places in the world where one can take a siesta and go out for dinner at 10pm, and Spain is one of the only places where you can do this and still enjoy a couple of glasses of high-quality wine at such a low price. For me, the Spanish make some of the best wines in the entire world, and for some of the prices you are paying nowadays for these bottles it is incredible they even stay in business.
Although Spain has so many great values in the world of wine, they also have some of the longest lived and world-famous wines that stand with the top Bordeaux and Burgundy of the world. For this reason, I decided to devote so much time in the Spanish wine section here at the store. The grapes are so different, yet still reminiscent to many wines out there. So, for all the novice wine drinkers in the world this is one of the best places to learn and drink from. My goal is for us at the Wine Watch to curate the greatest Spanish Wine section in the country…. Better yet how about anywhere in the world outside of Spain! This tasting is meant for the age worthy beauties we have in stock; we will find out who reigns supreme this year in our annual Vintage Spanish Wine Tasting.
I took in account all the amazing wine from throughout Spain that we had and knew we would have a killer line up! We have got the heavy hitters for this amazing event, from Pingus to Unico, and Lopez de Heredia back to 1961! This is another one of the “Once in a Lifetime” events here at the Wine Watch, so do not miss out on this rare line-up. Join us as we offer our Spanish wine lovers in South Florida the opportunity to taste through a selection of Spain’s greatest wines from some of the most showstopping vintages in its history. Chef Toni will be making a special three-course menu to accompany the tasting wines.

The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $450 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.
