"Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine."
Genesis 27:28
Unfortunately, god did not give us plenty of Domaine de La Romanee Conti. One of the reasons that this is one of the most expensive wines on the planet earth is that they only make a few hundred cases of each of these Grand Cru wines from any vintage. The other reason is that they have had a thousand years of marketing in the wine industry. There are not many regions of the wine world that have the history of Burgundy's Cote D'Or and with that history comes a very high price tag.
After my 50th B-Day party last year it will be hard to beat the line-up but the 1978 La Tache should be worth the price of admission for this one. At $995 + tax I’m pretty much buying everyone dinner tonight. Don’t wait too long to hit the respond button on this e-mail as this is the last tasting before I leave to France … Anyone ever been here the night before a hurricane?? For those of you that can’t make this “Once in a Lifetime” Burgundy tasting I have included everything that we have in the store from DRC and all the producers on the table tonight just in case you need to have a religious experience with Burgundy…
Vintage Burgundy - if it was my last drink these wines would be on the list!!
