If you visit only one place in South Africa, make it Cape Town. Whether you're partaking of the Capetonian inclination for alfresco fine dining (the so-called "Mother City" is home to many of the country's best restaurants) or sipping wine atop Table Mountain, you sense—correctly—that this is South Africa's most urbane, civilized city. Here elegant Cape Dutch buildings abut ornate Victorian architecture and imposing British monuments. In the Bo-Kaap neighborhood, the call to prayer echoes through cobbled streets lined with houses painted in bright pastels, while the sweet tang of Malay curry wafts through the air.

http://www.silversea.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ECM_31647_P_PortHighlights_HeroImg-468x270.jpg

Port Elizabeth, or PE, may not have the range of attractions found in Cape Town or on the Garden Route, but it's a pleasant town that's worthy of a few days' exploration. There are some beautiful beaches (although you'll need to visit them early in the day in summer as the wind tends to pick up by midday) and some wonderfully preserved historic buildings in the older part of the city, called Central. A large part of the town's charm lies in its small size and quiet environment, but PE is not a total sleepy hollow.

Feb 21 2017 Tuesday Maputo, Mozambique 2:00 PM 7:00 PM

http://www.silversea.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ECM_31626_P_PortHighlights_HeroImg-468x270.jpg

For centuries Mozambique, with one of the longest and most beautiful coastlines in Africa (1,562 mi/2,514 km), has been a magnet for foreign travelers. Maputo, formerly Lourenço Marques, is the laid-back capital, an incongruous mix of outdoor restaurants and cafés, palm-lined streets, an elegant promenade with ritzy villas, and once-grand colonial buildings, which often sit side-by-side with shanties and hideous concrete Soviet-style buildings dating back to the 1950s, when Russia and Cuba had a finger in the political pie here. The daring Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama came here on his way to India in the early 1500s, followed by Arab and Indian traders dealing in gold, slaves, and ivory.

Feb 22 2017 Wednesday Richards Bay, South Africa 10:00 AM

Founded in the 1880s, during the Anglo-Zulu colonial wars, Richards Bay was named after British Rear Admiral Sir Frederick William Richards, who landed a naval force here. An early claim to fame came in 1891, when colonial adventurer John Dunn killed a 22-foot crocodile in the estuary still one of the largest ever documented but the town remained a backwater with a population of less than 200 people until as recently as 1968. Today, Richards Bay is the major port in the region and is adjacent to significant mineral deposits, which have contributed to the town's massive growth. Visitors may be more interested in what awaits beyond in the hinterland.

Feb 24 2017 Friday Durban, South Africa 8:00 AM 6:00 PM

http://www.silversea.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/ECM_100883_Durban_PortHighlights_Img_1-468x270.jpg

Durban has the pulse, the look, and the complex face of Africa. If you wander into the Indian District or drive through the Warwick Triangle—an area away from the sea around Julius Nyerere (Warwick) Avenue—the pulsating city rises up to meet you. Traditional healers tout animal organs, vegetable and spice vendors crowd the sidewalks, and minibus taxis hoot incessantly as they trawl for business. It is by turns colorful, stimulating, and hypnotic. It's also a place steeped in history and culture. Gandhi lived and practiced law here, and Winston Churchill visited as a young man.

Feb 25 2017 Saturday East London, South Africa 1:00 PM 6:00 PM

http://www.silversea.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/ECM_146785_EastLondonSA_PortHighlights_Img_1-468x270.jpg

The gateway to the Wild Coast, East London was built around the mouth of the Buffalo River, which forms South Africa's only river port. Although fairly urban, East London is still close to the rural heartland, so it retains a pleasantly small-town air. There's a great museum here, and you can take a half-day city tour, an escorted visit to a local township, or a full-day tour of a rural village. Although the beaches on the outskirts of the city are wonderful, those within the central business district are crowded and not very pleasant.

NV Graham Beck Brut South Africa

Quantity in Stock: 10

(90 points) " Choose wisely and you could be happier--and better off--with sparkling wines than Champagnes on offer in the run-up to Christmas.Graham Beck Brut NV. This is classic stuff with bready, autolytic aromas, a fine mousse and distinctly savoury flavour...if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative to big-name Champagne, this is it. " Decanter

Graham Beck Rose Brut Sparkling South Africa NV image

Graham Beck Rose Brut Sparkling South Africa NV
List Price: $16.75        Your Price: $14.74
Quantity in Stock: 15

Pale silver-pink. Aromas of raspberries, cherries and a few secondary whiffs of minerality. A lively mousse but fine in the mouth, with subtle red berry flavors enlivened by bright acids. Brisk on the palate, showing hints of oyster shell and fresh lavender. Flirtatious and fun, yet elegant and structured, it's perfect for all seasons and settings.

2010 Graham Beck Rose Brut Sparkling South Africa image

2010 Graham Beck Rose Brut Sparkling South Africa
List Price: $21.00        Your Price: $18.48
Quantity in Stock: 1

Cellar Treatment: Whole bunch pressing with fractional recovery from the whole bunches ensured that only the quality juice went into fermentation. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fermented separately. Colour is obtained by an enzymatic reaction during the transport of the Pinot Noir fruit to the process. This is sufficient time for gentle colour extraction for this NV Rose. After fermentation the portions are blended and then lightly fined and bottled for the secondary fermentation. This wine was given sufficient time on lees to develop subtle yeasty characters but to burst with berry and cherry flavour.

2013 Capensis Chardonnay Western Cape South Africa image

2013 Capensis Chardonnay Western Cape South Africa
List Price: $78.00        Your Price: $68.64
Quantity in Stock: 1

This wine is the Jackson Families first fourey into the South African wine and Graham Weerts from Stonestreet is from South Africa and wanted to go back to make a wine from the Finbosch Vineyard, non malo and 45% new oak here this wine has a beautiful bouquet of flinty mineral like aromas, bacon fat, lemon drop candy fruit and fresh floral notes very complex bouquet. A big chardonnay with lots of everything in proportion. Finish 50+ The first time I tasted thsi wine the flinty sulphur aroma was a bit off putting the second day this bottle seems to be much better the second day with impeccable balance. Excellent +

2013 Paul Clover Pinot Noir South Africa
List Price: $20.00        Your Price: $17.60
Quantity in Stock: 11

A bit of earthy funk to the nose with wild strawberry fruit and exotic spices on the nose . Smooth and silky on the tongue with bright fresh acidity and that earthy nuance from the nose through the finish, nicely balanced. Finish 40+ Very Good +

2013 Kanonkop Pinotage South Africa Stellenbosch image

2013 Kanonkop Pinotage South Africa Stellenbosch
List Price: $40.75        Your Price: $35.86
Quantity in Stock: 6
Hardly a note of that burnt rubber here with a good amount of dark berry fruit, molassis from 60 year old vines with a note of banana on the nose along with some smoke. Not bad for a Pinotage with a solid core of dark berry fruit and notes of burnt rubber and banana on the finish. Very Good

2011 Sadie Family Palladius White South Africa image

2011 Sadie Family Palladius White South Africa
List Price: $108.00      Your Price: $95.04
Quantity in Stock: 4

A blend of; 33% Chenin Blanc,16% Roussanne,11% Grenache Blanc, 11% Semillon Blanc & Semillion Gris,11% Palomino,6% Viognier,6% Clairette Blanche and 6% Verdellho.

The 2011 Palladius is the first expression of our new interpretation of vinification of the Palladius vineyards. The new Palladius is the result of 24 months of ageing as opposed to the more traditional 16 – 18 months. It was found that the very special sites and fruit were quite up to a complete 24 month ageing prior to bottling.

The additional 6 months of ageing just meant higher levels of stability and clarity without the sacrifice of any of the other qualities and the character of the wine. The 2011 Palladius is the most complex, tightly packed and composed version and will be a great journey for anyone to savour. It was our smallest production in years and we also delayed the release for one year as we felt the new way of ageing was the right direction for this vintage and for future releases.

2013 Sadie Family Columella South Africa image

2013 Sadie Family Columella South Africa
List Price: $135.00      Your Price: $118.80
Quantity in Stock: 4
The 2013 Columella is matured for ten months in cask with 10% new oak, and then another ten months in foudres; Eben believes this slows down the maturation. It has a very complex bouquet, mercurial on the nose, and bestowed with wild strawberry and cranberry scents, incense and a hint of marmalade that is beautifully detailed. The palate is medium-bodied, extremely refined and mineral-laden, symmetrical and standing on tip-toes on the finish -- something that this label could not do when Eben started. It is compact at the moment, but it will turn into an astonishing Swartland wine.

2012 Boschkloof Syrah South Africa Stellenbosch image

2012 Boschkloof Syrah South Africa Stellenbosch
List Price: $27.00        Your Price: $23.76
Quantity in Stock: 4
Complex and attractive bouquet of oriental spices with typical Shiraz smoked ham and white pepper flavors. Good intense ruby color. Full mid-palate with a long soft finish. Well balanced wine with spicy type plum and berry fruit flavors and peppery overtones that finish with soft round tannins. Very classic style with unmistakable Rhone flavors. Certified and bottled on the farm. Good to drink now, but will develop and mature over the next 6 years.

2012 Badenhorst Secateurs Red Blend Swartland South Africa image

2012 Badenhorst Secateurs Red Blend Swartland South Africa
List Price: $16.00       Your Price: $14.08
Quantity in Stock: 7

(90 points)   The 2012 Secateurs Red Blend has just nudged upward in my estimation since last year. Here, it has a very well-defined, quite sumptuous bouquet with vibrant raspberry, dark cherry and mineral notes that have really opened up in the last 12 months. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins. This is very well-balanced with great delineation on the finish. Drinking beautifully now.  eRobertParker.com #215, Oct 2014

2010 Meerlust Pinot Noir Stellenbosch image

2010 Meerlust Pinot Noir Stellenbosch
List Price: $30.50
Quantity in Stock: 22

Meerlust Estate has been the pride of the Myburgh family since 1756. Today, the traditional dedication to the art of winemaking continues under the guidance of Hannes Myburgh, eighth generation custodian of this seventeenth-century national monument. This is a very old world style Pinot Noir with fresh earth, dried flowers and light smoky note to the cranberry and strawberry like fruit. A zesty wine on the tongue with a good hand of spice and that dried floral note through the finish. Finish 35+ Very Good +

2009 Meerlust Rubicon Stellenbosch image

2009 Meerlust Rubicon Stellenbosch
List Price: $31.50        Your Price: $27.72

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, this wine has a rustic old world bouquet with cigar box spice, fresh earth and more very complex with dark currant, eucalyptus notes and bitter coco notes coming out as the wine opens.  A big and spiced wine on the tongue wtih an array of smoky toabacco spice, bell pepper, eucalyptus and a long layered finish, a very unique smoky character but lots of fruit, a more earthy style but has ample fruit.  Finish 45+    Excellent +
