The Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 declared Chateau Lafite Rothchild a First Growth. Even a

century prior Maréchal de Richelieu (1755) stated “I have discovered the wine of Château Lafite to be a

delicious, generous cordial, comparable to the ambrosia of the Gods of Olympus”. We are ecstatic to have

them join as it is the first time at the Great Wine Seminar.

Corton-Pougets Grand Cru

10:30-1200

Presented by Kurt Eckert

In the commune of Aloxe-Corton, in the northern end of the Côte de Beaune, more than half of the vineyard

area is Grand Cru vineyards. The Grand Cru vineyard of Les Pougets is adjacent to Le Charlemagne on the mid[1]and upper slope on varied soils of chalk and iron-rich marl. In 1914 Domaine Héritiers Louis Jadot purchased

the vineyard. We begin with the Corton Pougets. A beautiful Pinot- Noir.

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

1:00-2:30

Presented by Kurt Eckert

Working our way up the hill the upper South and West facing slopes produce the Corton Charlemagne. This is

a powerful vineyard carrying the namesake of the emperor Charlemagne who owned vines in the region.

Supposedly, in honor of his wife they planted the first white vines in the region. This is an unreal tasting.

Château Rieussec

Sauternes

1855 First Growth

3:15-5:00

Presented by Kurt Eckert

Extending the border of Fargues and Sauternes and adjoined to Château d’Yquem is Château Rieussec.

Harvested with traditional techniques for the evolution of botrytis cinerea (noble rot) Rieussec produces

incredible wines one can truly say are “nectar of the gods.”
