“Bad news isn't wine. It doesn't improve with age.”
Colin Powell

August 28th we have one of the top names in Burgundy at the Wine Bar for a special Wednesday night event.  Becky Wasserman has become one of the top players in the field of small domains that are at the top end of the quality scale in all appellations of Burgundy.  I remember my last trip to Burgundy and the best wines at the Marsannay/Fixin tasting were represented by Becky.

Tonight, we have the next generation of the Wasserman family here Peter Wasserman in town to show us wines from the exciting new releases from this legendary portfolio, mostly Burgundy in origin.  Peter grew up in the cellars of Burgundy and today he is one of the leading authorities on the subject.  Join us as we welcome Peter back to South Florida for a tasting featuring new releases from mostly the 2016 vintage.  The fee for this tasting which includes dinner is $125 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

2016 Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Clos Marechale
Price: $150.00    Sale $132.00

(93 points)  Aromas of cassis, dark plums, baking chocolate and rosehip introduce the 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, a full-bodied, rich and layered wine with a broad-shouldered chassis of fine, stony tannins that are entirely enveloped in fleshy, gourmand fruit. This vintage is atypically rich and concentrated, so it's hard to predict if and when it will shut down. Wine Advocate

Becky Wasserman & Co. was founded in 1979 by Becky Wasserman-Hone, an American expatriate who has lived in Burgundy since 1968. Our company exports wines from small domaines and shippers in Burgundy and other regions who honor their terroirs. We do not endorse any single method of vinification or an “ideal” type of wine.
Our international team, based in Beaune, is comprised of thirteen people, including sales and administration (plus two office cats). We lunch together at the office each day. We are all enthusiastic eaters, and we taste wines that are old favorites alongside potential new members of the Becky Wasserman portfolio. We follow a simple rule: “If we won't drink it, we won't sell it.”
Wine is more than a commodity to us. We have gone through many highs and lows and none of us would be working here if we didn't believe that wine eases and embellishes peoples' lives. We hope that our website fulfills its ambition to be informative, educational, provocative, and amusing. Santé!
