"Knockin’ out windows and learnin’ down doors,
Drinkin’ half-gallons and callin’ for more.
Drinkin’ wine m@@@@@@"
-- Yes, a song from the 40s had serious swears in it!

This is our annual Brunello event to showcase the newest releases from Italy's most famous wine region and the greatest expression of Sangiovese on the Earth.

These wines are by law released after 5 years and the new vintage 2013 is just starting to reach the US shores.

Brunello di Montalcino is one of the greatest wines of Italy and some would argue that it is one of the greatest wines on the planet.  This is one of the only places that produces compelling examples of the Sangiovese grape in 100% varietal form.

This will be our first comprehensive tasting with the newly released 2013 vintage wines.  This new release is getting great press and we will also have the outstanding 2012 vintage Riserva Brunello Di Montalcino at this tasting which are held back an extra year by DOCG requirements only allowing them to be released from the winery 6 years after the harvest.

Although Brunello di Montalcino is one of the latest releases of all the world’s cellar worthy wines, in great vintage like 2013 these wines will need another 10+ years in your cellar before they reach their peak years of drinking.  That is why god made vintages like 2007, 2009 and 2011, both of these vintages from Montalcino are drinking very nicely even though they are still current releases from most producers.

That is why Montalcino is such an exciting wine region.   You can still find some of their top producers’ like several of the Brunello at this tasting from top level small producers and they are still under $60 per bottle!!

Join us as we experience the latest releases from some of our favorite wine regions and chef Toni Lampasone will be making a special meal to accompany the tasting wines, this is a sit down tasting and there are only 16 spaces available.  The fee for this event is $125 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463 or e-mail andy@winewatch.com.

Price: $130.00 Sale $114.40

Altesino Brunello Di Montalcino 2013
Price: $65.00   Sale $57.20

(95 Points) An intense perfume of juniper, bay laurel, sage, rose and berries marks this silky red. The structure is there, yet superb balance and refined tannins help this retain elegance through the long finish. Almost ethereal in its presence. Best from 2021 through 2036 Wine Spectator

Casanova di Neri Brunello Di Montalcino 2013
Price: $70.00   Sale $61.60

(94 Points)  Luminous deep red. Captivating aromas of sweet red berries, cinnamon, violet and licorice. Then also very fruity in the mouth; refined, juicy red plum and raspberry flavors linger brightly on the fresh back end. Has a delightful red fruit cocktail quality that makes it practically impossible to put the glass back down. And though it is simply bursting at the seams with early appeal, this truly lovely Brunello will also age well. Unless my memory fails me, this may well be the best entry-level wine from Casanova di Neri that I have ever tasted.  Vinous

IL Marroneto Brunello Di Montalcino 2013
Price: $90.00   Sale $79.20

(94 Points) Il Marroneto's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine and one that invites you to partake in a long evening of good food and even better company. This is a deeply convivial expression of Sangiovese that offers just a glimmer of much-needed informality and coziness to guarantee comfort. But make no mistake, this Brunello reminds you of its pedigree and precision as well. The bouquet opens to white cherry, fragrant rose blossom and violets. The finish is smooth and pliable, with graceful endnotes of smoke and crushed mineral.  Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Mocali Brunello Di Montalcino 2013
Price: $48.00   Sale $42.24

(90 Points) The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and savory expression of Sangiovese from one of the most beautiful corners of Tuscany. This is a dark and velvety wine that is packed tight with black fruit flavors, spice and tobacco. It shows texture in the mouth and firm grip that reveals some astringency that still needs to be absorbed and softened with cellar aging. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

2013 Canalicchio Di Sopra Brunello Di Montalcino
Price: $98.25    Your Price: $86.46    Quantity in Stock: 22

(97 points) Plump and bursting with cherry, strawberry and mineral aromas and flavors, this racy red evokes harmony and freshness, with hints of spice, chocolate and tobacco as it plays out gracefully on the long aftertaste. There is structure here, with all the components integrated. Best from 2020 through 2035. From Italy.B.S (3/2017) Wine Spectator

Image result for 2013 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino

2013 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino
Price: $71.00    Your Price: $62.48    Quantity in Stock: 36

The Uccelliera estate is located in the warm southern Castelnuovo dell’Abate part of the Montalcino zone. Despite his family’s long connection to Montalcino, Andrea Cortonesi was only able to buy the Uccelliera property in 1986. His vineyards range from 150 to 350 meters above sea level. The Brunello is aged for 24 months in a mix of French and Slavonian oak

(94 points) I never have enough praise for the excellent work achieved at Uccelliera. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is another proud notch in Andrea Cortonesi's belt. This is a fine and elegant wine that wraps smoothly over the palate. It also has an immediate and accessible personality that means you don't need to wait too long to enjoy it. The wine is redolent of dark fruit, spice, balsam herb, licorice and pressed flowers. You get loads of variety character. Drink 2020-2035. (ML) (2/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Image result for 2013 Collosorbo Brunello di Montalcino

2013 Colosorbo Brunello di Montalcino
Price: $49.00   Sale $43.12

(91 Points) The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and thickly textured wine from a cooler vintage. The wine exhibits a deeply saturated appearance with little light penetration. The bouquet is enhanced by dark fruit aromas of black cherry and crème de cassis, with licorice, spice and tobacco at the back. There is a sweet spot on the close, and the tannins are neatly folded into the wine's thick texture. The overall effect is slower and thicker than its peers. This is an immediate expression, best for short and near-term consumption. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012
Price: $118.50 Sale $104.28

(98 Points) This delivers intense balsamic notes of juniper, wild rosemary and sage, along with rose, cherry and berry aromas and flavors. Elegant and saturated with flavor, supported by a vibrant structure. Ends with energy and refined tannins. Best from 2022 through 2040. 750 cases made.  BS  January 2018

Image result for 2012 Canalicchio Di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012

2012 Canalicchio Di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012
Price: $147.75 Sale $130.02

(95 Points) The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a beautifully saturated expression, with gorgeous density and presence. The bouquet is carefully considered in terms of its power and intensity (remember, this was a hot and dry vintage, and ripening was accelerated as a result). It shows lots of varietal character and definition without ever going overboard or feeling too soft or ripe. In fact, this Riserva is surprisingly tonic and firm deep down. It sweeps over the palate with sweet, plush and softly velvety waves of fruity flavors. - Monica Larner,  Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2018
