Chateau Lynch Bages Collectors Series Bordeaux Tasting with Special Guest Commercial Director Pierre-Louis Araud - Wednesday, January 18th 7:30pm and all the Pauillac in the store on SALE!!

"Never understood a single word he said but I helped him drink his wine…and he always had some mighty fine wine." -- 3 Dog Night

And I know our “Wine Drinking People” have a lot of fine wines in their cellar – that is what our “Collector Series” wine tastings are all about…Sharing the wealth!!

We are big fans of Chateau Lynch Bages so when I heard that Pierre-Louis Araud was in town I said it’s time for a Collectors series tasting with one of the great Chateau of Bordeaux.  I knew that we had a lot of Chateau Lynch collectors out there that would love to bring a bottle out of their cellar to share with our group on Wednesday, January 18th.

Our collector series tasting event is where we ask you “Wine Drinking People”, to come up with some wine from your wine collection to add to the party in exchange for your ticket to the event.  That’s correct the collector series tasting portion of the event is FREE, all it will cost you is one bottle of Lynch Bages from your cellar!!  Don’t sweat it if you don’t have one, we have a few bottles in our collection that are available to purchase for this event on this offering.

(90-92 points)    Composed of 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sémillon and 10% Muscadelle, the 2020 Blanc de Lynch-Bages springs from the glass with vivacious notes of white peaches, fresh pineapple and pink grapefruit, plus touches of honeysuckle and mandarin peel. The medium-bodied palate is equally intense, featuring just enough acidity and bright, zesty sparks, finishing pleasantly savory. (LPB)  (5/2021)  Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

An echo of the First Wine's character Like its big brother, Echo de Lynch-Bages displays the characteristic taste, aromas and length of Pauillac wines. As an echo of the first wine, it receives the same care and attention from the vine to the cellars. It is the result of a selection of Lynch-Bages' youngest vines and specific plots which represent between 25 to 40 % of the harvest depending on the vintage. Echo de Lynch-Bages is round, soft and seductive in its youth with outstanding potential for bottle age.

2016 CHATEAU ORMES DE PEZ ST. ESTEPHE

Price: $72.00     Your Price: $63.36

(93 points)  “The Cazes family's property in St-Estèphe, which for a drinking wine is going to be hard to beat this year. Juicy and utterly delicious, it has freshness and a great menthol character with finely grained tannins. It manages to deliver the Médoc signature without falling over itself. Mostly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with a dash of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, planted on clay-limestone and gravels, aged in 45% new oak. 3.69pH. (JA) “ (4/2017)  Decanter

Part Two: Dinner Featuring wines from your cellars

The price of admission is one bottle of Chateau Lynch Bages from your cellar, but here is the catch- we only need 1 bottle of each wine, so the longer you wait to respond the harder it will be to get a seat as you will have to go further back in time because the youngest vintages will be filled up by the first collectors who respond.

Here are the vintages that we have already:

2000 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac

2004 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac

I will add the vintages as people respond with the vintage they are bringing.

A bit about Lynch Bages:

CHÂTEAU LYNCH BAGES 1986 | Finest and Rarest Wines | | Sotheby's

2000 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC

Price: $490.00   Sale Price: $395.00        Quantity in Stock: 1

(97 points) Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. - WA, RP (8/2011) Wine Advocate

2003 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC

Price: $275.00   Your Price: $242.00       Quantity in Stock: 10

(95 Points) This sexy, evolved, dense ruby/purple-tinged 2003 reveals notes of smoke, herbs, black currant jam, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied, opulent and flamboyant, it is another example of a stunning 2003 northern Medoc that can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 more years. This irregular vintage hit its zenith in the northern Medoc and in a handful of limestone terroirs in St.-Emilion. In contrast, other areas, particularly Pomerol, Graves and the sandy, gravelly soils of St.-Emilion, experienced difficulties in 2003. Wine Advocate #196 Aug 2011

2004 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC

Price: $195.00   Your Price: $171.60       Quantity in Stock: 10

One of the best values from this highly underrated vintage. The 2004 Lynch is densly fashioned with a full array of fresh shaved lead pencil, toasty oak spice and fresh plowed black earth tones surrounding the black cherry currant berry fruit on the nose. Big and chewy on the palate with a host of ripe tannins that coat the tongue, excellent balance and depth of flavors on the palate with a long complex finish, fresh acidity holding through to the end- a classic style Pauillac. Finish 50+ Stephen Tanzer (88-91)

2006 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC MAGNUM 1.5L

Price: $531.00   Your Price: $467.28       Quantity in Stock: 1

(93 Points) Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Lynch Bages has another quite vivacious bouquet with lively black cherries, kirsch and wild mint aromas that do not hold back. I love the purity here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine supple tannin, well-judged acidity, a gentle grip in the mouth, and plenty of lightly spiced and surprisingly intense fruit on the bravura finish. The Cazes family oversaw a very sophisticated Lynch-Bages in this vintage that may well surpass many peoples' expectations. Tasted January 2016.  Interim - May 2016, The Wine Advocate

2009 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC

Price: $375.00   Your Price: $330.00       Quantity in Stock: 10

(94-96+ Points) The highest levels of polyphenols ever measured at Lynch Bages (20% higher than any prior vintage) are found in the 2009, which achieved 13.4% natural alcohol, and a normal pH of 3.64. Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is the greatest Lynch Bages since the outstanding duo of 1989 and 1990. The black/purple-tinged 2009 exhibits a glorious perfume of graphite, black currants, and subtle smoke, powerful, thick, unctuously textured flavors, huge yet sweet tannins, fabulous purity, and a finish that lasts 40-45 seconds. Five to eight years of patience will be required, but this is a 30-40-year wine from this popular estate run by the affable and highly respected Cazes family. (Tasted three times.) Wine Advocate # 188, Apr 2010

2010 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC

Price: $360.00   Your Price: $316.80

(97 points) Still a saturated ruby-black in hue, the 2010 Lynch-Bages offers up aromas of rich cassis fruit mingled with hints of pencil shavings, loamy soil and cigar wrapper. Full-bodied, deep and muscular, it's rich and layered, with a concentrated core of fruit that's framed by firm, powdery tannins and lively acids. The most brooding, backward Lynch-Bages of the decade and one of the real successes of the vintage, this is a vibrant, tightly wound wine that is still an infant at age 10. Readers with bottles in their cellars might try one now out of curiosity, but this 2010 won't begin to hit its stride until age 20. (WK)  (2/2022)  Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

2015 CHATEAU LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC

Price: $246.00   Your Price: $216.48       Quantity in Stock: 10

(93-95 Points)  They 2015 Lynch Bages is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot that was picked from 23 September until 2 October, matured in 75% new oak. There is an overwhelming sense of purity on the nose: perfumed, almost floral blackberry, wild strawberry, graphite and cedar scents, unmistakably Pauillac in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, a keen citrus thread that impart tension and ample freshness. Tasting this as the first wine of the day, it instantly refreshes the mouth and leaves it tingling with energy after it has departed. This is an excellent, top-grade Lynch Bages that deserves 8-10 years in bottle and then will offer three decade of pleasure, maybe more. -Interim Issue Mid-February 2018, The Wine Advocate
