I thank god for my children every day. Without them I’d never know how well red wine complements chicken nuggets.

White wine does not seem to get the same attention from collectors as red. We are guilty of giving red more attention than white as well with three of our four rooms of display at the store filled with red wines and only 2/3 of the 4th room filled with whites.

Recognition of the problem is half of the battle and we will give the great whites of the world their due beginning tonight we will add this Ultimate White tasting to our annual line-up of wine tasting events. This is all a part of the valuable scientific wine research that we are doing here at the Wine Watch, we need to know how long you can age white wine for.

Come and find out how these great whites are doing as every wine on the table tonight will be 10+ years old and everything is white! Wine Watch Catering’s Toni Lampasone will be making a few tasty treats to accompany the tasting wines and the fee for this event is $95 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463.

2005 Alex Gambal Bourgogne Chardonnay Cuvee Prestige
Price: $26.25

Alex decided to make two Bourgogne in 2005 and this one exhibited a good bit of structure and depth for an entry level offering so he called it “Cuvee Prestige”.  We tasted this wine in February when Alex was in town and this wine is still drinking nicely.   A great start to our vintage white experience and the only chardonnay on the table this evening.

2001 JJ Prum Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese

(94 Points)  "Aromas of candied limes, smoky slate, and white pepper are found in the explosive nose of the 2001 Riesling Spatlese Wehlener Sonnenuhr. A sultry, seductive wine, it luxuriously slathers the taster's palate with rich, yet focused, layers of juicy lemons, red cherries, currants, blueberries, limes, and pears. Notes of candied raspberries make an appearance in this exceptional offering's unbelievably long finish. Pure, elegant, powerful, deep, and densely packed, it should get even better with cellaring. Projected maturity: 2007-2020+. "The Wine Advocate

1996 Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux 1er Cru
Price: $120.00

Since its founding in 1928, Vouvray’s Domaine Huët has been the standard-bearer for great, ageworthy Chenin Blanc. And to this day, year after year, the estate produces some of the world’s most compelling white wines—and in a remarkable range that spans sparkling, dry, semi-dry, and breathtaking dessert styles.

Chenin Blanc has been identified with Vouvray since at least the 9th century, and many of its great vineyards were known by the 14th century. By those standards, the 80-year-old Huët estate is relatively young. Yet it was this youngster that established, once and for all, that Vouvray was capable of world-class quality.

2004 Chateau Musar Blanc Lebanon
Price: $45.00

In youth: yellow-gold, subtly oaky, and creamy-textured, rich yet dry and intensely citrusy, with honeyed nuances. Wholly unique, the style has been described as resembling ‘dry Sauternes’ or mature white Graves. Chateau Musar Whites develop tawny hues and mellow spicy characters as they age. The cellars at Ghazir holds bottles of this wine dating as far back as 1954.

(91-95 Points) The 2006 Hermitage Ex-Voto blanc is a powerful, aromatic wine offering notes of crushed rocks, quince, orange marmalade, white peaches, and honeysuckle with spicy oak in the background.
