I have learned to like Scotch also and the first thing that I do when I go on vacation is buy a bottle of really good scotch and I start out the evening every night with a glass to warm up the liver for the wine. 

But vacations are done for this year and it is time to get to work with some serious wine tastings and some of the first serious Burgundy tastings that I attended were with the Mason Louis Jadot.  For many years either Jacques Lardière or Pierre-Henry Gagey would come to the South Florida to show a cross section of the newest releases from this great house.  They put over 40 different wines on the table every year and in one day I learned more about burgundy than the rest of the entire year.  This showed me that Burgundy is the ultimate exercise in terroir and how it affects wine.  The same producer, the same varietal and the same vintage- the only thing that is different from one wine to another is the dirt from which they are grown. 

We have hosted a Louis Jadot barrel tasting every year since the release of the 2003 vintage and we are proud to announce that we will be introducing the next generation of the Gagey family along with the latest venture of Louis Jadot and Jacques Lardière their legendary winemaker to South Florida this evening. This special Aligote is well structured, with hints of peaches. The acidity is light, this wine is very fresh and lively, not too tannic. It goes well with white meats, charcuterie, poultry, andouillette and goat cheese.

Bouzeron is a rather new appellation dating back to 1998, only producing white wine with the Aligote grape. It is the only identified place in Burgundy where a village appellation is produced with the aligote grape (a crossing of gouais and pinot noir).

This wine has a good amount of fresh earth and brown spice, this is the second label, around 600 cases produced of this the first vintage cuvee of Yamhill Carleton estate and two other vineyard sites in the Willamette, red berry fruit pomegranate and red cherry.  A smooth and silky wine on the tongue with light savory red berry fruit, brown spice and that earthy character from the nose through the finish.  Finish 45+  Excellent

This is Louis jadot's venture in Oregon headed up by Jacques Lardiere and this is the second life of one of Burgundies masters, the first vintage.  This wine has a very earth driven bouquet with herbs, mint and truffle like notes red berry fruit, brown spices and more.  A big wine with lots of everything an array of spice to the raspberry coulis like fruit, very long and layered finish, some tannins here and a firm hand of acidity.  Finish 45+ Most Excellent
