Biggio Hamina Riesling Amity Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills Willamette 2009 Price: $13.50       Sale $11.88          Case $138

(88 points) 2009 Riesling Amity Vineyard is not only still very attractive – its meld of honeydew melon, mint, and nut oils could be that of a Sauvignon, here backed by subtle residual sugar that helps override significant bitterness – but for what little experience I have with Oregon Riesling might perhaps remain that way for a few more years. There is a lovely subtle creaminess to this, signaling an uncanny sublimation of acidity, but that doesn’t mean this wine’s springs of vitality have unwound. Give it a try! (Incidentally, Todd Hamina tells me that he is the only person to whom Amity’s Myron Redford sells fruit, in this instance from vines planted nearly four decades ago.)  Wine Advocate #202 Aug 2012

315425.jpg (367×415) Biggio Hamina Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2011 Price: $22.50       Sale $19.80          Case $230.00

There were no single vineyard wines made in 2011 only this Willamette it was a tough vintage but the wines that were made really overdeliver for the money. A blend of Yamhill Carlton and Eola Amity fruit. A good amount of spice and a pretty mint, light red berry fruit very pretty bouquet light but not light in nuance. A good hand of that green minty nuance to the finish with light cranberry and raspberry fruit here, this wine has lovely balacne and a nice hand of spice on the finish. Finish 35+ Excellent

Blackbird-Vineyards-2010-Paramour.gif (180×256) Blackbird Vineyards Paramour 2011 Price: $125.00    Sale $110             Case $1275

"The 2011 Paramour offers exquisite aromas of blackberry, blueberry and tobacco. This authentic expression of Cabernet Franc showcases textured layers of chocolate and nutmeg, combined with fine-grained tannin and cedar overlay. The supple finish is round and balanced, providing persistent length of flavor. Paramour will continue to develop with time in the bottle for the next decade or more. The cooler-than-normal 2011 Napa Valley grape-growing season concluded in an expedited harvest. The outcome was a vintage with flavors developed at lower brix, resulting in truly elegant wines with European-style texture and great complexity."— Winemaker, Aaron Pott

 06_46-17.jpg (240×168) 2011 Figge Paraiso Pinot Noir Price: $48.00       Sale $42.24          Case $490

Located towards the southern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation, this vineyard is owned by the Smith family.  Rich and Claudia helped pioneer Monterey vineyards in the early 1970’s and have advanced many of Monterey’s viticultural techniques throughout their career.  A true family affair, their son Jason now manages the vineyards while son-in-law Dave Fleming acts as the winemaker for the family label, Paraiso Vineyards.   The vineyard is 400 acres of primarily Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  Figge Cellars has selected one block of Pinot Noir planted in 1998 to three different clones, 667, 777 and 115.  Each clone gives different flavors at maturity and compliments each other as we blend them in the winery.  For each clone we have selected just a few rows that the Smiths graciously endure our critiques of and willing manipulate to our desires.  It’s a wonderful thing to have friends in high places!

Ripe red fruits abound, dominating the palate while integrated tannins provide great structure and offer an arrestingly vigorous mouthfeel.

It’s wonderfully fruity, with ripe pineapples, tangerines and papayas, and a rich, sweet taste, like bananas sautéed in butter and drizzled with honey. The acidity is perfect. Great job for the price, and easy to find, with production of 12,700 cases. Editors' Choice " 91 Points Wine Enthusiast

Our Charity this year is Broward New Times

http://www.nashvillescene.com/binary/f99a/1340031044-share-our-strength1.jpg Broward-Palm Beach New Times is proud to announce their first-time partnership with the charitable organization, Share Our Strength, to bring awareness of childhood hunger in America. Restaurants participating in the Pairings event will be a part of the movement that brings food to the mouths of low-income children in Florida with the donation of leftover food to the organization end of the evening. In addition, 100% of the proceeds raised during the Tree of Abundance onsite fundraiser will be given back to the charity, and will include many excellent prizes!

Our Priority: Ending Childhood Hunger in America

No child should grow up hungry in America, but one in five children struggles with hunger. Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day.http://dineout.nokidhungry.org/uploads/resources/color_jpg.jpgWhat We Do

The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. The campaign also engages the public to make ending childhood hunger a national priority.

How We Do It

We're ending childhood hunger by connecting kids to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals. This work is accomplished through the No Kid Hungry network, made up of private citizens, government officials, business leaders, and others providing innovative hunger solutions in their communities. These partners work together, implementing solutions that break down the barriers that keep kids from healthy food.

Through its Cooking Matters program, the No Kid Hungry campaign educates and empowers low-income families to stretch their food budgets so their kids get healthy meals at home. Cooking Matters participants learn to shop strategically, use nutrition information to make healthier food choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals.

The No Kid Hungry campaign works to shine a national spotlight on the crisis of childhood hunger in America, creating a powerful movement of individuals committed to bold action. We build partnerships that enlist influential individuals in the cause and advocate policy changes needed to achieve our goals.

Together, we are making No Kid Hungry a reality in America. Will you join us?

About Share Our Strength Share Our Strength began in the basement of a row house on Capitol Hill in 1984, in response to the ‘84–‘85 famine in Ethiopia. Brother and sister Bill and Debbie Shore started the organization with the belief that everyone has a strength to share in the global fight against hunger and poverty, and that in these shared strengths lie sustainable solutions. Today we focus these strengths on making No Kid Hungry a reality in America.
