We are getting ready for the summer here at Wine Watch and that only means that we are ready to party!  To start things off we have our friends from LVMH in the house to kick things off right with a little party/wine tasting here at the store.  LVMH is one of the largest luxury goods companies in the world and they have amassed a collection of premier vineyards and wineries that today represent the elite names in each perspective region they are located in around the world.

The company started in with Champagne and now they own: Moet Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart, Krug and the associated domestic properties like Domaine Chandon in Napa Valley, Newton Vineyards, going to the Southern Hemisphere to Cloudy Bay from New Zealand and they have partnerships with other properties like Terrazas de Los Andes with their crown Jewel Chateau Cheval Blanc in Saint Emilion and then there is Chateau D’Yquem otherwise known as liquid gold.

Join us as we taste through a small selection of wines from this luxury group offering our wine drinking people the ultimate experience in quality from vineyards all over the world today.  Wine Watch Catering's Toni Lampasone will be making a few tasty treats to accompany the tasting wines.  This is a walk around tasting and is limited to 25 tasters.  The fee for this tasting is $35 + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463.

 A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and 6% Pinot Meunier, on the lees for 5-6 years, has aromas of almond and smoky toasty brioche like notes very rich and layered with fresh baked apple and pear like fruit, notes of ginger spice. Lovely richness on the palate with ripe pear and spiced apple fruit with a smooth and creamy texture on the tongue with hints of ginger spice and white flowers through the finish. Fresh apple and pear fruit on the nose with notes of white flowers and ginger spice.  Smooth creamy mousse on the tongue with a good amount of dosage here also and hint of ginger spice to the finish, nice fruit and a pretty floral note to the finish along with mineral notes.  Finish 40+ Excellent

Nice smoky nuance to the candied cherry and plum like fruit on the nose with a nice amount of dosage here on the palate smooth and creamy mousse with pretty floral notes through the finish.  Fresh and bright with chalky minerally notes, this wine has good structure and freshness with candied red berry fruit and pretty floral note to the finish.  Finish 40+                Excellent +

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc Te Koko 2009 Price: $54.75       Sale $48.18          Case $559

This is all wild fermented, barrel aged sur lees with a musky quality to the pink grapefruit and passion fruit like fruit on the nose with some salty mineral notes.  Rich and round on the palate with a creamy texture tangy acidity, good richness with a zesty finish light briny quality, that musky nuance through the finish.  Finish 45+                Most Excellent

Terrazas Single Vineyard Los Aromos Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 Price: $56.25       Sale $49.50          Case $574

Carmine-red in the glass, this wine is a cacophony of amazing notes in the mouth. Ripe red fruits, like redcurrants and plums, and other surprising notes like fig jam appear in the nose. Spicy aromas of cardamom and thyme are also present, as are hints of anise and licorice. French oak barrel aging provides tobacco and smoky notes. Silky, ripe tannins play off the fruitiness. The words concentrated, full-bodied and rounded come to mind. An ultra-long finish renders this beautiful wine elegant and profound.

Newton Le Puzzle Napa 2009 Price: $135.00    Sale $118.80       Case $1377

The color on this wine is terrific—dark and inky red. The Spring Mountain terroir makes itself known early with aromas of blackberry brambles and cassis, followed by juniper, manzanita and sage high notes. Intense and concentrated, the 2009 The Puzzle on the palate has generous vanilla, mocha and blackberry syrup flavors mingling with toasted cedar, spices, and bittersweet chocolate. The tannins are full and plush, providing tremendous structure for this big, rich wine with its long finish.
