The name Borgogno is connected to one of the oldest wine cellars in Piedmont: Borgogno means the authentic, historic roots of Barolo for the cellar’s first production dates right back to 1761. The Borgogno winery rose to fame above all thanks to the batches of bottles it matured for decades. Proof of this is the choice of his Barolo, in 1861, for the official dinner celebration of the Italian Unification, and in 1886 for the banquet in honour of Nicola II Romanov Czar of Russia, guest of the House of Savoy, during his official visit to the Castle of Racconigi. After 1959, Cesare Borgogno started a new transformation programme in the organization of the company that assumes the current name “Giacomo Borgogno & Figli”. Today, Giacomo Borgogno & Figli is a fully developed company that harmoniously combines tradition and technological innovation in order to always guarantee top quality in its products. Borgogno Farms own approximately 20 hectares of vineyards, located among the best areas in Barolo, such as Cannubi, Liste, Fossati and San Pietro. In 2008 Borgogno Giacomo & Figli was acquired by the Farinetti Family who, in 2009, completed an important restructuring of the main building.
