1979 Vintage Red Burgundy Tasting

The 1979 vintage was an important vintage to end the decade of the 1970’s, maybe not as good as the epic 1971 or the outstanding 1978 but maybe on par with the 1976 vintage.  We have hosted several tastings with the 1979 vintage and for a year that was categorized as forward and fruity many of the wines are still quite enjoyable today.  But that is why we host these tastings you never trust the critics 100% they taste the wines and rate them upon release so we have to do the hard work of reevaluating them 10, 20, 30, 40+ years after release. 

I have also included every bottle of Burgundy that we have in the store from the 1979’s so you can curl up to a bottle of Burgundy and enjoy your favorite movie from the 1970’s like: Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Five Easy Pieces, The Last Detail, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Godfather, The Conversation, Jaws, The Exorcist, A Clockwork Orange, Star Wars, American Graffiti, National Lampoon's Animal House, Dirty Harry, Saturday Night Fever, Rocky, Enter The Dragon, and Apocalypse Now…. just to name a few of mine!

Join us as we experience 11 wines from the 1979 vintage, ten are from Burgundy and I have thrown in one of California’s first great Pinot Noir producers wines the 1979 Chalone Estate from the Pinnacles Mountains in Central California.   There are only 14 seats available for this tasting; the fee is $175 per person + tax, for reservations call 954-523-9463.
