2020 Valdicava Rosso Di Montalcino

This wine contains all the grapes from the estate this year, Filai Lunghi, Lago, Cipressi and Nova vineyards and this year the wine also contains the Brunello vineyards of Poggio, Pievecchina, Pratea and Sferracavallo. they made no Brunello di Montalcino and no Madonna del Piano, so all they grapes went into this Rosso di Montalcino. Valdicava is one of the few producers that is willing to make this sacrifice in a difficult vintage. This wine was opened for 2 days here in the store and still was fantastic, it was actually better on the second day and we forgot to put the cork back in the bottle! This is the sign of a well made wine in its youth to be even better on the second day. Pretty red cherry fruit with silky smooth tannins bright and fresh with notes of porcini mushroom and fresh rose petal floral notes very pretty wine that has great structure but it light in body and very fresh.
